I have split ends, what's one way of fixing them?

they are long.


they have other split ends attached.


my tips look white.





i use biosilk.


i straghten my hair everyday with a ceramic straightener.


i also use a treseme spray that should help protect against heat.

The only way to "fix" them is a good trim. Hair doesn't repair itself. I would go to a good salon %26amp; get a professional trim, %26amp; talk to the stylist about products to work properly with your scalp %26amp; hair type to prevent more damage.

For fixing, think more about getting rid of. A haircut. Have the dead ends trimmed off and your hair wont be as frizzy and will grow back a little faster if you get it trimmed on a semi regular basis of 3 to 6 weeks depending on when your hair needs it. I get mine done about once a month, more if I've played with the color in between then. That will solve it for the now.





Now for preventing. Bio silk is good but think about switching to a salon started brand, like Paul Mitchell or Treseme. Walmart is usually pretty cheap to buy even those. Also, don't straighten your hair every day. That fries your hair, work with the curl or wave using a light gel or moose in-between days of straightening. It will save you from having split ends back faster. There are hair straighteners out there though that aren't as bad for your hair. They have heat releasing holes that give off steam as you go down the length. Better than pushing the heat down the length especially if your hair is damp or wet when you do it. Okay, and finally use a conditioner for your type of hair. Mine is long and thick, I use a full body conditioner with extra moisture to prevent friz. Maybe splurge more for the conditioner but it is worth it.

Reply:there is no way to "fix" split ends. you need to trim them off. try not straightening your hair every single day... maybe just a couple times a week. use extra conditioner on your hair in the shower and leave it on for a few minutes before you rinse.
Reply:There is no solution to split ends except cutting them off. There are definitely ways to prevent split ends, but not "glue them together." Straightening your hair every day will cause split ends no matter what; I don't think the heat-protection spray protects against split ends, but you should probably buy shampoo and conditioner that's made to strengthen your hair.

Reply:1st Sweety the problem is you put way to much heat to your hair. The Treseme you use works on a very small % scale, you straighten it everyday is counter acting that small %.





The 1st thing I suggest is 2 straighten hair once a week, I know that's a dramatic change but if you "wrap" it immediately after straightening and at nite b4 bed your hair will remain straight %26amp;soft. It will also decrease the amount/serverity of split ends.





#2 Get a healthy trim 2 start which may end up being a cut (at 1st) after the intial trim keep up with a great trim once a month. This decreases split ends reguardless of your hair routine but w/ the above advice it'll keep your ends healthy and fresh 4ever! An added benefit to trim once a month is makes your hair grow!
